Ditched the wing on the trunk lid of the Jag. This damn thing was amazingly heavy, no wonder the trunk lid wouldn’t stay up on its own.
Also this is a feature I’m surprised isn’t in more cars just because of how darned convenient it is. Short of getting pulled over, how are you going to know you have a brake light out?

Aww, I kinda liked the wing. What’s going on with that antenna?

Most new cars will tell you if you have a bulb out and which one.

Love those vertical dials...

OEM wings are curved to go with the deck lid. The antenna was bent to go around the wing. I have another one I’m going to screw on there but I don’t really listen to radio so I just left it off for now. Also that wing was so heavy the trunk wouldn’t stay open, so...

So much aero you get downforce at rest: that’s some engineering!

Gravity downforce!

Just by ditching the wing and switching to the stock wheels, you’ve made this thing look about 300% better

Hmm, yeah that’s a pretty big turnaround for sure.

Now you just need euro bumpers. I mean, an overdrive trans is probably more important. But still.

Don’t most blinkers blink faster when a light is out or going out?
![]() 07/06/2017 at 11:53 |
|
They do, but blinkers can also easily be checked by tossing on your hazards and walking around the car. Brake lights require someone to be looking at the lights and activating them from inside the car at the same time.
Of course some cars have the blinker and brake light as the same dual-filament bulb so... moot point there.

Just get LED tail lights and they should never burn out.
![]() 07/06/2017 at 12:03 |

I’m not sure why but I’ve had terrible luck with LED car lights. The tail lights in the LeSabre are all flickering, the dome light in the Miata is flickering... I’ve usually bought from SuperBrightLEDs but I also got a couple lights from Amazon and eBay but after a few months of being fine it just seems like the solder joints get flaky and start flickering really bad.

I’ve got that but it tells me not just that a light is out but which light is out.

If they’re flickering, they’re on the way out. I had some from DiodeDyanmics that went bad, so they replaced them for free.

I bought my led taillights for the explorer from AutoZone and I have yet to have any issues with them
![]() 07/06/2017 at 12:30 |

Yeah but the autozone lights are like 4x what the equivalent is on SuperBrightLEDs or DiodeDynamics
![]() 07/06/2017 at 12:36 |

so the fact that i paid 4x as much as have had them last 4x longer should tell you something. i think mine are sylvania

My point had more to do with Autozone markups. A Sylvania LED festoon that would be $20 is $8 on Amazon. I might try getting Sylvania brand next time I do some LED nonsense, though.

id reccomend them. even with them flashing super fast since i have yet to wire in resistors theyve held up well the past two years. at this point ive gotten use to the fast blinking so when i drive anything else i notice the blinkers more haha

I had some from super bright LEDs that sucked too.

Yeah. Only issue is all the lights for the Jag are euro-spec so I’ve got to pull them out and figure out what the American equivalent designation is. Sigh.

The way I check my brake lights is when I lock the doors with the fob and walk around the car the lights illuminate, you should know this being that you also have a LeSabre

Muuuch better :)

My RX7 has the same sort of light for when a brake light is out or, as I found out, is weak (it lit up but not very bright)
